I don’t really get to say anything about my old team’s number, 495. Not much comes up with it. I do, however, think of other teams. Whenever I watch an Indy car race I see Delphi everywhere. Or if I see a comercial for our local governor’s school I think of team 122. I didn’t remember many teams by their numbers, mostly by something else ie. “Rambots,” Virginia Tech, or the Brazillians.

Oh wow!! I’m shooked that someone actually remember us, the Rambots. Especially on a post that Carolyn posted and just named a few random teams and we got picked. A Shot out to you Carolyn!!
Every time i hear one of thoes army commercials “there are 212 ways you can join the army” or somthing like that. Or if I read a book i get to a page and say, good number.
The number 442 used to be an oldsmoblie car model. So we were always waving cars around in the stands and had the Oldsmobile 442 on the side of our robot but I don’t think anyone got it. We need a new team name. Any suggestions…?
How could I not mention the Rambots? After the clarificaton I got of the word “ninny” (as I said before, where I’m from that is not a compliment). I also got to meet the famous Anton and share many bad Irish jokes with Mike O’leary ( I wonder why he knows so many?) It was the least could do.

It’s hard to see 349 anywhere (except when I’m awake in the middle of the night and glance at the clock, when it is inevitably 3:49 am). But other team numbers…all you have to do is drive the section of I-75 that’s near me…66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 73, 74…they’re all mile markers or exits, and conveniently enough TEAM NUMBERS. Highway travel has become synonymous with reminders of FIRST. And don’t get me started on license plates…
Meg
349, the RoBahamas (or I was till I graduated)
My oldest daughter is about 45" tall, and weighs about 45 lbs. I have an Adam Petty hat, who use to drive car 45 before he died last year. Now his dad, Kyle drives 45.
Here’s an odd one:
For the past 10 years, whenever someone would come up with me and ask “Andy, I have a question…” I would answer “22 !” before they could ask the question. Finally, it was the right answer, about 6 months ago. Now I answer with a “45 !”.
I kinda feel sorry for the new teams and their high numbers. We really like ours and would never give it up.
In my head, I keep track of all of their teams by their number. I’ll memorize team numbers before their names, usually.

Usually when faced with the same situation, I will answer “6!”, never considered changing to “177!” though. Its got too many syllables. Hope your birthday was as good as mine.

Not the almighty 42? I thought that was the standard answer to that joke? Wanna piss someone off that you know answers this way, say it first.
My team number (180) really doesn’t come up that much. Ironically, we do have 180 days in each school year, so anytime someone mentions that, my team pops into my head. It’s more other team numbers that I see more often. Like Team 76 I think of often…is that even a team? I don’t know. My school and my street are off of State Road 76. Maybe it’s not a team number. I don’t know. I just think of it as one. Maybe I have a screw loose…or maybe more than one…
I basically cannot look at a number without thinking of a team… the night before Mayhem on the Merrimack, Lee and I were pulling a traditional FIRST-a-holics all nighter and suddenly I looked at the clock to see it was 2:22am…the first thing out of my mouth? “Hey, the Tigertrons from Tunkannock, PA! They’ll be at Mayhem!” It’s also sad when in math class you start doing things like taking the square roots of one team, and the answer comes out to be another…I do things like that faaaaar too often
Ours (254) doesn’t really come up that often, but I did see it today on a commercial for the new Big Bertha Driver. Apparently it has a “254% bigger sweatspot”. I haven’t really seen it anywhere else.
