Just curious, DO all of you guys have subteams? 'cause I know that we don’t , we kinda just grab what we can do and do it, or figure out what we can’t do and do it anyway.
We have Sub Teams, this year we cut down on a few from previous years as we had Pit Crew, Drive Team, Programming and Chairman’s, in the past we have had fundraising, marketing, strategy, Jr. FIRST, spirit and scrapbooking just to name a few.
Sub-team necessity truly depends on the team. More often than not, having sub-teams is a huge help on a large team because it keeps things moving and separates the group a bit by interest. That way smaller groups are fullfilling goals and completing tasks based on one focus, and it also contributes to consistency.
On the other hand, if your team is fine without subteams, and you don’t think it could be improved with that added organization then you should refine your own method of doing things. Just keep in mind that as you grow, the free for all attitude becomes a lot more difficult to maintain.
MOE offers these hints http://www.moe365.org/moementum1.php on our website for all teams to look at. it gives a good explanation of sub teams and how/why we break up into them.
In our team, we have the following subteams:
Mechanical
Manufacturing
Marketting
Controls
3d Animation
CAD
Media
Drive
GO-Squad (basically, team organization subteam consisting of the other subteam leads, led by the two team leads).
Works decently, if I must say so myself…
811’s 3d animation subteam lead,
scali
Yup.
PAW room (stands for Promotions, Animation and Web design.
Sparkies (elctrical and programming)
Mechanical
Drives.
Yep here are ours:
- Programming/Electronics [self explanatory, 'cept they also do our website.]
- Auxiliary
- Drive
- Business/Image [award entries, business cards, photography, website content, sponsorship letters, thank you letters, etc.]
=) It’s easy to keep up with our groups and work in them. We immediately decide who will do what right before season starts, so we don’t have to go through chaos to get everyone situated. The groups really help get things done on our team. Quite disorganized if there’s no order to the team itself. =D
We have:
-Programming
-Construction
-Controls
-Electrical/Pneumatics
-Website
-Chairmans
-Spirit
-Fundraising
-Autodesk Inventor
We have
Marketing
Public Relations
Programming
Electronics
Manufacturing
Arm and End
Drive Train
Design ( keeps Cadd drawings and documentation)
Design Strike Team ( group of 14 students that design and make the final decisions on the robot)
We have sub-teams here are what they are
-Mechanical(CAD, machining, etc.)
-Software(electrical & programming)
-Communications(PR stuff & animation)
