Team PyroTech 3459|Robot Demo [Video]

We did a demonstration at our local JCPenney this Saturday, and this is what our robot looked like:

Specs:

  • Plaction wheels
  • Parallel arm (can reach top peg)
  • 6-wheel drive
  • Shifting gear on drive (not installed in the video)

We are a rookie team, so any comments would be appreciated!

nice job cant believe you guys already have a robot that can hang tubes on all levels

Very nice job and btw. we still have two of your tetrix peices on our robot and is this how it performed at the practice match too?

Well, actually, it can’t reach the bottom peg just yet, but we are working on that.

WOW!!! I am very impressed!

Just having an apparently finished robot on the Saturday before ship day, complete with sponsor logos, decorations, and scoring on the highest pegs is a great accomplishment for any team! (On Saturday we went to the Week Zero scrimmage event in Nashua, NH, and most of the robots there didn’t look as good!)

However, to have that robot at a public demonstration at the mall during the build season is equally amazing!

Combine the above with the fact that 3459 is a rookie team, and I’m downright stunned!

Well done! Looks like you’ve got a great shot of going to St. Louis!

PS: Your team website is equally impressive – great job on the daily video updates!

most definely in the runnings for rookie all-star  great job guys

Like others have said: amazing you were done so fast!

I’d like to add that your robot looks very good. You made some brave design choices that you seem to have dealt with very well.

also i was suprised to see a professional looking website  good use of your first year

Now we have autonomous working!!!

It’s awesome to see a rookie team going out there into the community to spread FIRST awareness. and then his heart grew 3 sizes that day

Thanks! It was really a wonderful win-win-win. We got to get some practice driving, our sponsors got to see where their resources went (not that they hadn’t seen the robot before, they just hadn’t seen it running), and we got to do some community outreach.

We were also able to do something similar two days later at the LORD Corporation.
