Almost every team involved with FIRST has a team saying or chant, that they use in the stands to psyche themselves up, but another venue of excitement not so greatly talked about is the music aspect. Is there any particular song or songs that you play on your team to get all the members’ blood pumping?
I know on my team it’s either “Mr. Robotto”, “Party Hard” or “Highway to the Dangerzone”, keep in mind that theme songs are also appropriate.
Hmm…we don’t have any official team song, but we do have those songs that end up being popular on the team.
Last year, it was “Popcorn-techno remix,” or something of that nature. During one of those 12 hour days, some kid just started singing it. It was infectious, and eventually the entire team had it “stuck in their head.” Eventually, it made its way onto our video from the Philadelphia Regional.
This year, I would have to say it is either “The Immigrant Song,” By Led Zeppelin or “Dragostea Din Tei AKA The Numa Numa Song” by O-Zone." THe first we tried requesting at the scrimmage, however they didn’t have it, and it became a team priority to get it played. Unfortunately, they didn’t have it at Hartford, and they didn’t take requests at Philly. And as for Dragostea Din Tei, it’s just catchy…admit it.
Hmm… Now that I’m back on the Team 573, I’d have to say Dr. Joe’s Triple Play song. Although when he taught it to us, half the people didn’t catch on… I guess we’ll have to work on that… :o
You’ll definitely hear us at WMR and the Championships!
anything that has to do with fire, but we stole a lot of our chants from songs this year:
“And this bird you cannot cha-ange” - Freebird (the dj never played despite all of our, oh, 20 requests, haha!)
The roof…is on fiya!
“Bob the builder, can we fix it? Bob the builder, yes we can!” this is kinda random, but dorky and fun. coincidentaly, two of our mentors are named Bob.
We also made 10 mix cds (we’re handing out the other 5 at nat’s) and a mixed tape that we blasted all the way down 34th street before the Philly regional, I don’t know if anyone heard it though. That had the number one song to get pumped on it: the rocky theme song!!!
At Philly last weekend our team got pumped for pretty much any song, but the one that really got everyone going was “Who Let The Dogs Out.” Whenever the title phrase was played in the song, our team screamed 5-7-1 in time with the music. I actually heard them from the pits every single time they shouted - this was the best cheering section we have ever had and I am glad that those graduating got an award for it at their final event (I take no credit for any spirit-related items ).
