Team Update 17

I think people are reading too much into this.

It doesn’t mean “The GDC is happy!” All it means is “The GDC doesn’t feel it is appropriate to make any changes right now.” These are very different things, imho.

For all I know, there are people very upset by how things are playing out, but these same people believe making any changes at this point would be a bad thing. (I would agree… changes now = very bad.)

No, I don’t have any inside knowledge. I’m just frustrated by how much people are reading from so little.

I can’t remember that last time an update had this many post in the first day. Ironic huh.

It is water now, it was 4 - 5 feet of snow during the build season, though! :stuck_out_tongue:

Here many thought the game would be boring, including a boring thread after week 1.

Now some people are asking for an update to “lessen” the scoring based on certain ideas.

Are we now asking for updates every week to change the game rules?
Update 16 was the biggest game changer, maybe ever.

Let’s get this thread up to 100 posts so all the 469 guys who haven’t read the update yet will have heart attacks thinking it’s a major re-do. :cool:

I saw 40+ posts and was like “ok what did they do now?”…:slight_smile:

Oh, but it is a major redo.

It’s the first update this season to say nothing, and yet be dissected like the game hints.

I emailed a team member that Team Update 17 was up and 469’s strategy is now illegal. I immediately got a “NO WAY! Glad we didnt take the risk”:ahh: response before they read the update. Then a confused :confused: response

So basically it is a believable rumour to start.

My friend pulled that on me!

This is my post to run up the count!

We should read into this update more…maybe the GDC is letting us know that they aren’t going to change anything else for the rest of the season! Have we ever had an update that contained absolutely nothing?

As far as I know, the GDC’s default course of action is to do nothing at this point in the season. Of course, they can and do make updates if there is something to clarify or that needs to be changed. But the GDC making an empty update is instead simply making a statement. Considering that this sort of thing is (AFAIK) unprecedented, we can guess it’s a pretty big/profound/attention-grabbing statement. If the GDC wanted to say nothing, they would have. If the GDC wanted to tell us something directly, they would have. But the GDC doing something like this tells me that they want us to figure out their message. In other words, they encouraged this sort of meaning reading and speculation by doing this.

Nothing is as it appears…

Absolutely nothing? Au contraire! Let it be noted in the annals of FIRST history that on this day the game design committee did NOT choose to change, clarify, explain, or interpret ANY PART of the 2010 Manual.

And of course if you print the update and hold it up to a candle for a few moments, the following message will appear:

Pick 67 or 469.

.-

So did I…then I laughed harder when I saw this post.

For a change, no changes!

Maybe that will change in Update 18 (AKA: the 469 update). :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, cause 469 doesn’t play again until Troy Week 4, so why would the GDC want to give them more than 2 days to come up with a new design? :ahh:

And this is nothing… so then, is it as it appears?:confused: :cool:

Nothing is as it appears… hmm…

Ahhh, too much thinking…

public something appearsLike(Something nothing)
{
if(nothing == appearsLike(nothing)
{
return appearsLike(nothing);
}
else
{
DIVIDE BY ZERO
}

}

Hah! I made a program to figure out Dave’s game hint. :stuck_out_tongue: Silly recursion.

Only experts in interpreting game hints can find the hidden meaning of Update 17.

So then it means we all need to PICK 229 instead of 67 or 469!
