TechnoKats #45 Fling-ama-Zod IRI Updates. Light Saber Duel 148?

We have made some improvements to our robots before we go to IRI. We decided to put LEDs on the pickup that controlled by our ultrasonic sensor to tell whether we are in range or not. Red when we are not in range and blue when we are. They look really cool as well. Inspired by Team 1986 Team Titanium’s system with their 2014 robot. We look forward to seeing the other great teams there at IRI.

Awesome! We also are in the works of doing the same. Expect I ordered the wrong LEDs, so we are using single color LEDs that will blink rapidly when in correct distance. What language did you code in? Did you use an arduino?

We used two separate LED strips in each Toro stick, one red and one blue. We hooked their grounds together and plugged the positive ends into one Spike H-Bridge Relay. We programmed it in LabView so that when we aren’t in range, power is delivered to M- and when we are in range, power is given to M+. We plugged it into to our digital sidecar in a relay slot.

Here is the picture of the Red LED’s.

That is a clever way to do it! We might try out that method!

It looks like it’s dual wielding lightsabers…awesome.
