Texas Off-Season Events 2021

I hadn’t seen any of the Texas Off-season Events posted on CD yet. The Texas Robotics Invitational won’t be happening this year but will be back in mid-July of 2022. As for other events happening in Texas the details as I currently know them are posted below.

The Remix

“It looks like The Remix is back for 2021. We are in the final steps of working out facility use at the home campus for Texas Torque. As in the past, any profits from the event support the Montgomery County Women’s Center. Their main goal is to support women looking for a way out of an abusive relationship. One of the reasons we host this event after school starts is to give pre-rookie teams a chance to form and get some experience before going to an actual district event. This is probably more important than ever with the number of teams that did not compete at an actual event during the pandemic. We coordinate with other teams to have robots available for the pre-rookie teams to use since very few have their own robot.”

NTX

  • When: Saturday, October 9th to Sunday, October 10th
  • Where: Plano Area
  • Columbus Day Weekend
  • Saturday is STEM Gals (Girls only tournament), Sunday is NTX tournament.
  • Cost: TBA

Some Updates

Latest news is that both Oct Texas events (NTX/STEM gals and Remix) will not have support form FIRST in Texas, they were the supplier for the field for both events.

With that news it is very likely these events will be cancelled or at the very least postponed.

Is there anything that you or someone else can share for those of us out on the loop? That’s to say, why will these events no longer have support?

This was part of the email sent out to NTX registered teams with the explanation from FiT.

"FIRST in Texas has been monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Texas very closely. After a number of meetings, we have decided that it is best not to hold any in-person events or competitions until perhaps late November or early December. "

Unfortunate, but the right call given the current situation.
