Thank You: 3176, 525, and 93

I would like to publicly thank Teams 3176, 525, and 93 for the outstanding assistance they gave the Newton inspection team in Atlanta. For those that don’t know the story, all Thursday morning the inspectors watched Team 102’s crate sit unopened in their pit with no team members in sight. We began to wonder. In short, phone calls were made and it was learned that 102 had made all their travel arrangements long before FIRST moved the qualification match schedule up to start at 1:00 on Thursday. Team 102’s flight wasn’t scheduled to arrive until around lunch. FIRST was given permission by the team to open the crate and do what we could to get them as ready as possible before 102 got there. The call went out for some assistance to help open the crate. Teams 3176 and 525 responded immediately with drills in hand. Under the supervision of the Newton LRI and myself, Teams 3176 and 525 uncrated Team 102’s robot with tender love and care as if it was their own. They organized 102’s pit as best as they could and then I was tasked with inspecting 102’s robot as much as possible before the team arrived. That’s when 102’s pit neighbors, Team 93, sprang into action. They also treated Team 102’s robot as if it was their own even though they had never even seen it before. Students from 93 helped me get 102’s robot almost completely inspected before Team 102 had even landed at the airport. We didn’t have a cart for 102’s bot. No problem, 93 hand carried 102’s bot to the sizing box and scale for me. They even handled getting 102’s WPA encryption taken care of. In short, it was a shining example of GP all around and 102 was able to make their first match due to the efforts of these other teams. Thank you! You made my job easy at a time when I know you probably had plenty of other things to worry about of your own.
