Thank You All From Logan on Team 1743

Now that the nationals are over, I am going to make my emotional speech.

The ride of the FIRST Robotics Program has been a long one for me. Way back in 2003, I was presented with the task of creating a FIRST Robotics Team for my school. It was a task that would prove to be hard. Needing to convince 3 administrators and a panel of people that our school should have the FIRST Robotics was one of the hardest things I have ever done.

It was April that the dream came true and the 15 people of the Short Circuits came forth, to unite as a team to build our robot. We had our problems, and boy were they tough, but all and all, my people, the Short Circuits prevailed and built a robot. Bence, Eric and Brandon, although the team might be against you or were against you, I never was and understand why things were like they were. You were the people that took the team to the nationals – something that I could of never dream of happening.

Joey, our mentor, although we had our differences and the “your mom” jokes got so lame after awhile, it was an experience to work with you. I am glad to have you as our mentor and I’m looking forward to having you back as one for next year.

Girls, I’m sorry for what happened, that you feel you got left out. It should of never happened, however, if it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t of had what little flashy things that we had. Next year it will be different, but since there was 4 of you, things were rough this year, never give up, next year will be different.

Team 395, we are forever in debt to you for giving us the experience of going to the nationals. It was great boost to our team to have won something. You guys have no idea how much that meant to Momma Perhach to see us holding that Championship trophy. And team 1038, we wouldn’t be here with out you and your great shooter.

And last but not least, I need to thank everyone that stood behind me as there were times during the creation of the team and during the build season that I was ready to give up. You people know who you are, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Now I get to sit back and relax for a few days…and then it will be back to getting ready for 2007s season!

Logan,
You guys rock and you owe us nothing. When we saw how grateful you guys were just to be there and be participating, we knew that you guys deserved every bit of recognition that would be coming your way. It was really cool that you got up in front of all 3 teams at dinner and shared the story of all the work and planning that went into getting 1743 up and running. All of us on 395 are extremely proud of you. And we expect great things to come from your team in the future. We’ll see you guys back in Pitts next year, hopefully they will let me come back and MC.
