“the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000033)”
when i loaded inventor on to my computer and i tryed to open it it gave me that message, and i was just wondering how do you go about fixing this. My OS is win. XP if it makes a difference.

What service pack? i believe the hex is an address. Does a reboot or full boot help? And yes, it does make a difference.

EDIT: Oddly enough, MSDN/KB, Google, nor the autodesk site seem to be helpful. try the Inventor Discussion Group.

What version of Inventor? I have seen errors like this from Inventor 5, when it was not installed correctly. Also, I have seen this exact error on systems where Inventor 6 was installed and users tried to start Inventor 5 (the two were installed in different directories).

Inventor is a massive program and tends to present errors if it is not installed correctly. If you try and force it to install it as a normal user, it tends to go south. I would try reinstalling it first. Then if that doesnt work, i’d install the latest Service Pack for the Operating System, or reinstall it if the system is at its highest level.

Also, try quitting any large running programs… Inventor hearts RAM.

I am using version 7. but now when i try to open a program like paint its giving me the same response. could it possibly be something fixed by a reinstalling of windows?

If even Paint is giving such errors, I’d first try System Restore. If that doesn’t work, reinstall Windows.

Have you installed any unusual programs recently, or changed anything major in your system? They might be the root of the Windows errors. Also, try closing any unnecessary processes from the Task Manager. I like to keep the number of running processes when I am not running anything under 20. The more simultaneous programs, the greater the chance for an unwanted interaction.

You didn’t happen to run Windows Update today did you? After installing the latest IE security patch, my FTP server randomly stopped working and gave me a similar error to the one you’re getting now. Just a thought…
