We’ve been excited to purchase some new video equipment for this year’s Chairman’s Award video. As I’ve been watching interviews that are done professionally and the like it occurred to me that I haven’t seen any post done that asks you all to discuss your favorite videos.
So - with that in mind: What is your all-time favorite Chairman’s Award Video. Secondly - What is your favorite all-time robot release video?
Reveals are really hard to narrow down. I think 610 has some of the best camera work in all of FRC, not just in their reveals but the other content they put out as well.
No doubt for me my favorite reveals have come from 4334. Their 2014 one inspired the 2015 video I made for 701. I have no shame in saying that the format is super similar haha. No robot reveal I saw before it had that quality level of cinematography and now, I can’t not (yeah I used a double negative) put more effort into the cinematography of my own team’s videos.
Soon to be IndianaFIRST highlight videos! The student behind these graduated in 2015 and now attends Purdue.
That being said, I think 118s 2013 reveal video wins. Not just for the cinematography, but also for the fact that Can’t Hold Us didn’t make it to the radio until several months after 118 published that video.
i am still expecting PNWfirst to have the same quality (if not better) of video. Though most livestreams usually better than CMP.
That reminds me OP, check out the Australia regional from 2015. First(?) Regional down south, some of the best video quality from a FIRST competition i have seen, not to mention some great matches.
The comedic value of 254’s 2014 reveal will always keep it at the top of my favorite list. With all the high quality release videos being made now the type of content matters most in standing out to me, even if that requires the content to be over the top.
I will second 27’s 2014 Chairman’s as my favorite.
I don’t know about that (although their release videos are definitely great).
I look to 254 for really nice teasers, and 3075 for the best camerawork/music/shot integration in FRC.

Yes, 4334 stood out in 2014. Up until that time, reveal videos were growing in number, but they were all similar in their approach/feel/style. What separated the really good ones was the level of execution and the choice of song along with the amazing features of the robot. 4334 changed the style completely. It was creative. It was ingenious. It was trend-setting. Now others have followed that style, and the challenge becomes which team will go in a different direction, execute it well and set a new trend.
