The only allowable link to the new compiler is FIRST’s website: www.usfirst.org
Thank you for your understanding.

Actually, I think you can get MPLAB 7 of off Microchip’s normal website since it is free to the public. Here’s the link.
MPLAB IDE

Make sure you first uninstall any old versions of MPLAB you have got lying around and then go down to the bottom and click on MPLAB IDE v7.00 Full Install. The compiler however, is on the link from FIRST’s website.

The version they are releasing to us is a new version that is unreleased to public and they want to keep it that way. I.e. Dont distribute it freely except to work on your FIRST robot.

The program that they are releasing to the FIRST teams before they even release it to the publuc is the C18 v2.4 compiler. not the MPLAB IDE. MPLAB IDE V7 has been out for a while.

Jaime, you should remove the private FTP link from your post. See Ken’s post for more details: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=314648&postcount=12

has anyone been able to download the compiler? i’ve checked that microchip link throughout the day and it hasn’t worked at all.

Haven’t found a working link yet, though I’m sure they should appear sooner than later.

What i think is happening is there are too many user downloading it and most FTP servers have a set limit of connections that are allowed, and it is just kicking the other people who ar trying to connect. If anyone gets it could you email it to me? ([email protected])

Ok guys. Please read Dave’s post here:

Please edit your post immediately to remove your links to download the new compiler and link to FIRST’s website from now on. If you don’t know how to do that feel free to contact any one of the moderators to edit the post for you.

Thank you.

Posting a link to download the IDE does not violate the rule. The IDE is available to the public, only the compiler is for FIRST participants only. Everybody calm down.

Esspecially since it seems I can no longer edit that post, so I can’t do anything about it.

(And I would have appreciated it if you had PM’d me instead of filling the thread with it.)

And we know the link doesn’t work right now. Asking in yet another thread won’t make it come back any faster.

The links was edited so quickly because we don’t want the Chief Delphi Forum and FIRST getting into any trouble. The decision was to remove the links immediately so FIRST can continue a good relationship with Microchip. It would be a shame to see FIRST or team 47 get into any trouble because of a simple misunderstanding on the allowable distribution method of the new compiler.

If you wishes to edit your original, me and the other moderators will be happy to do so, as long as the ftp link isn’t there.
