The Mission, The Vision, The Values

Hi all -

We’ve been working on a comprehensive business plan for this year. . . ok, the truth is that I have one of our Seniors working on it. Still, we have been tweaking our Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Core Values. I wanted to post them up here as the start of a discussion. What is your team’s mission, vision, and core values?

If any of those three are unclear, I’d love to talk about how to write them as well. Here are ours as they stand today:

Our Mission:
Panthrobotics provides students with the tools to find successful careers in a rapidly changing workplace. We equip students with skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as they complete time-limited projects and we help them grow professionally through intense community involvement, business strategies, and leadership roles.

**Our Vision: **
Panthrobotics is creating a generation of teens who are passionate about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics who will enter the workforce ready to compete in our global workplace. We will also revitalize the innovative spirit of our community through service projects, demonstrations, and yearly robotics competitions.

**Our Core Values **
Family: Our team is more than a collection of students, mentors, teachers, and parents. We are a family. We believe in each other, watch out for each other, and expect each other to succeed. Our team accepts, respects, loves and most importantly enjoys each other’s company.

Excellence: Every build, every competition, every event, every award; we do each task to our utmost. Our team is motivated, passionate, and hard-working; never settling for second best.

Outreach: The only way to change a community is to be part of it. Our community is not just our school, our city, or our state. It is every place that our voice, our hands, and our hearts can reach. Our team consistently looks for ways to interact with our community – both with our excitement about robotics as well as our passion for service.

Fun: We believe that we are our most successful when we are having fun doing what we do. Whether it be cheering at competitions, playing laser-tag during our end of the year party, racing robots with elementary school teachers, or simply enjoying each others company - we want to bring as much excitement and joy to our lives and to the lives of others as we can.

I like this. It looks good. Our values (I honestly don’t know what we have on paper) are pretty much identical.

One comment: FEOF is not an attractive acronym :stuck_out_tongue:

Some people think this can be kitschy, but I think it’s important to have something like that on paper. It’s easy to talk about what you want to do, it’s hard (but rewarding) to follow up on a promise of what you strive to be.

In Mission and Vision, you didn’t specifically address the encouragement of students to enroll in higher education. I would add explicit wording for that.

Other than that, looks solid.
