I’m not exactly sure how many people have signed up here since this was last mentioned, and how many have seen it mentioned before and just haven’t taken a look, but I know(from the analog stats before they were removed from the server) that the consolidated PDF system was used quite a bit, so I know at least a few people were looking at it…
Anyway, HyperRules is returning for 2004, with a whole new look! Several new features are being added as well, including printer-friendly pages, e-mail capability, previous competition archiving, and more! Upgrades to this system also mean that the system can hold an almost infinite number of rule sets/“manuals”, only limited by the disk space on the server…if anyone is interested in hosting their event’s manual(OCCRA and CDI, I’m looking in your direction ) within HyperRules, let me know…
For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s a quick overview…as you may or may not(if you’re a rookie) know, FIRST releases the initial manual at kickoff, then a series of updates throughout the season, which sometimes include clarifications or modifications to existing rules, or perhaps new rules all together. HyperRules is my best attempt at consolidating all of the information we are given into one easy-to-use system, making the necessary edits throughout the season in the rule itself, rather than listing the change separately. I am still putting the finishing touches on the new system, but rule browsing and print/PDF functions are in place. Any comments to help improve the system more would be greatly appreciated! Also, if anyone knows how to write a very good MySQL search in PHP, let me know…the one I was using last year wants to search an entire table, and I want to limit it if needed to records that match a specific criteria(i.e. yearid = 2003), Let me know…
So, without any more of my senseless rambling, here’s the link to the preview of the new system: http://hyperrules.chiefdelphi.com/newdesign/
