The Robonauts 118 - 2019 Video

Seemed more like something similar to this:

They might subscribe to the Copioli school of DDS.

Love the spaceship shaped air tanks (i think they’re air tanks and not just decoration?)!

Is there anything special going on with the echain being inside the semi-opaque white plastic or just for aesthetic? It looks light!

That’s easily the coolest air tank decoration/mounting I’ve seen, even if it does go against “Low CG”.
Edit: ~3lbs up high seems like something 118 would stray away from, but they’re also one of few remaining teams who anodize almost the entire robot. :man_shrugging:

i highly doubt those airtanks increase the CG by any noticeable ammount

Only problem is it breaks R83.

Love how the climber engages with the drivetrain to propel itself forward like a pto

Definitely not. The rocket parts don’t interact with the pneumatic components any differently than a COTS tank mounting clip would.

I would assume the issue is more with the presence of the adhesive decals, which I’m told could potentially obscure damage to the air tanks.

To me it looks like the tanks are inside a tube which has the decals on it

To me it looks like some stickers are directly on the air tanks. Specifically the one that says United States.

This is one I have been waiting for. Awesome and inspiring as usual. I’m looking forward to admiring it from up close at Pasadena.

The way you solved the stilt needing to drive itself to push the robot onto L3 is awesome. I hope we can improve our system to be more like that.

The coordination of the video and the lyrics is spot on. Enjoyable reveal all around.

That intake looks pretty similar to what StuyPulse is doing. Is there a reason why the cargo intake isn’t deeper?

switches youtube to 0.25x speed

How much extra security do you get from the brake on the claw? I’m always in awe of all the little details on 118’s robot, and how refined designs are for things like the elevator carriages. Congrats on another beautiful robot!

I would love to see how your cord is running for the elevator. We’ve had nothing but issues with our return cord all season no matter what we do to engage tension to it.

Is either of your cables wrapping over itself? We found that when this happens, the change in diameter is significant enough to create a lot of slack in some of the cable.
