The Rubber Chicken Robot

So to restate one of my replies to the FRC game predictions topic, some of my teammates and I noticed that there is a large influx of compliant/entraption star products being released across multiple vendors, leading us to believe that this years game will offer some fairly irregularly shaped objects. I had cracked a joke about the game being a rubber chicken game, where teams would have to collect and shoot rubber chickens (which of course would be wheezing/squealing the whole time, ergo fulfilling the “crescendo” aspect of the theme). I have since decided to model, as a pet project, a “rubber chicken robot” that would obtain rubber chickens and shoot them at a target.

I plan to post periodic updates on my progress, but as for now, here’s the start

I plan for it to feature an intake inspired by a stingrays mouth, hopefully minimizing on field contact damage, and keeping Center of Gravity low.

Not sure what the rest of it will look like yet, but I’m getting there

Will there be a chicken launcher? If so, how will you ensure that the chickens are all aligned? A chick-indexer??? :chicken:

Absolutely! I hope to have an array of 2 inch Omni wheels against a static surface to catch one end of the chickens and have them rotate until they reach a standard orientation

Okay so Update, I finished the first iteration of my intake side wall, I designed it to work with the Bimba Original Line 3 inch stroke, 5/16" bore double acting cylinder, and it travels a grand total of 41 degrees to retract from the floor

I hope for the intake to use the REV Robotics ION Flap Wheels
REV ION Flap Wheels
since they allow a cut to size approach for my needs, as well as versa rollers and polytube conveyor system to transfer the rubber chickens into the system

This is today’s update, I added some WCP Pocketed gears to inverse my polycord roller systems, as well as beginning to model my polycord and constraining it (a bigger challenge than I expected it to be), as well as adding some extra polycarbonate siding to shield the larger gears.
