Jesus… why so expensive for an offseason event?

Because everything’s bigger in Texas. Including the registration fees! :cowboy_hat_face:

Last year, it was $2,500 per team to register

Interesting that FLL is in and FTC is out for this event. Any explanation given to why this was the case? IIRC the FTC event last year was an official UIL event so assuming that would not be the case this year but not not still include it?

This sounds like fun!

I do think it was because last year was a UIL event but also, the Irving Convention Center isn’t as big as the Alamodome. This is the same convention center that hosted the FiT Irving District Event. This off-season is also a 1 division competition, not 2 like last year

I got asked a question I can’t answer: Much of our team this year consists of Seniors who will graduate in a few weeks. Which means they are no longer officially “high school students” according to FRC. That means if we go to the Texas Cup, we’ll have to go with a new Drive Team right? (Our graduating seniors would love to compete again of course…) Anyone know?

So yes u should let ur non graduating members drive as it will be good practice for next season. That being said, idk that anyone will be checking IDs.

I remember last year, they had a part in the Q&A saying something along the lines of “Students that just graduated may still compete” or something. That’s how I was able to compete last year since I graduated the May before 2021 TTC

FYI: I got a reply back from Jason (Texas Cup) who tells me that any students registered for this past season are still eligible for out of season events including the Texas Cup. But we’re thinking it’ll be good practice for a new drive team too. Now to see if our team wants to do it… it’s a LONG way to Irving from Los Alamos (and back) and we’re a pretty small team.

If the Senior drive team wants to drive, you guys could switch between both drive teams. But of course, first figure out if your team is able to go

Is the Texas Robotics Invitational still open? I would be sure to attend that one if I was one of the teams going to Texas Cup.

Yes, TRI still has space but the event is next week July 7-9th. If any team can manage the logistics and would like to come please let me know.
