The Thrifty Bot 2024 - 2025 Product Releases & Updates

Hope everyone had a great off-season and is getting back into the swing of things with school back in session!

Finding its way to the website tonight - HTD Timing Belts

We’re stocking both 9mm and 15mm widths - single sided and double sided.

For single sided we have every 5 teeth from 35t-200t and then every 10t from 200t-300t. For double sided we just took a guess to start but can stock others if teams want specific sizes.

We also had the first batch of swerve modules show up today & are going through the process of unpacking, kitting and checking them. The plan is to get those orders shipping out next week -

Just in case you missed it, here are some of the items we launched over the Summer:

More good stuff on the way soon, stay tuned!

I know this is a little thing but we were having a little trouble connecting to the lasercan. Everytime we tried to connect it said “device refused connection”. Turns out all we had to do is unplug the robot radio. I saw that in a future update there are plans to be able to assign can id over ethernet/wifi but a little note in the getting started about maybe having to unplug the radio would be cool.

I will add a note to clarify on the Gitbooks page. Thanks for letting us know, and let us know if there are any additional things that would help drive clarity there!

It may not look like much, but we did get some of the first Thrifty Swerve orders out this week. About half of the pre-orders have shipped and we’ll be working to get the rest out on Monday. I appreciate everyone’s patience & support on this, we’re really happy with how they turned out and think teams are going to enjoy them quite a bit.

A module box will have each kit labeled including the motor gear type bags. Most major parts are wrapped in plastic to ensure things arrive in good condition & gears stay nice & oiled.

We should also be getting the Colson wheel & grip lock wheel hub options up on the website later next week as well.

All Thrifty Swerve orders have gone out so we have removed the pre-order designator. If you order swerve module kits they will ship out immediately.

We also added some more Thrifty Swerve related SKUs that will be arriving later this month -

Corner aluminum billet blocks that provide 10-32 threaded holes to mount things on the corner of your frame perimeter.

We also had teams asking about hubs for mounting Colson wheels & Grip Lock wheels. Both of these hub options are on the website now -

Any idea if the corner blocks are compatible with SDS modules?

We’ll be running a set of the swerve corners at Bot Bash this weekend. The front set will have these polycarb plates as bumper spacers

The back set will be helping support our 1/4 steel intake plates, which I unfortunately don’t have a picture of. We’ll see how they hold up!

We’ll get CAD posted here & get it into the module’s OnShape model soon.

They are not compatible with SDS modules.

Do you have an estimate on restocking 1/2in rounded hex bearings? We just ordered the last of them, but would like to order more.

Just got a shipment in yesterday, will get the stock updated here.

Was the Thrifty Nova designed to mount to the NEO in any way? I thought I saw an image somewhere that might have suggested that.

I haven’t seen a production Nova stuck to anything, but that’s what they told me in their Robot Service Center booth at Championship.

We prototyped some ideas using the rear screw hole on the NEO 1.1 and some other clamping methods, but always ended up back at a couple of VHB tape strips holding the controller on better than anything to the back of the motor & having the lowest profile. Will be interested in seeing what teams come up with here for solutions, I know folks on Discord were tossing some concepts around.

Update on the CAD for the Colson hubs? I don’t see it on the website yet.

The CAD for this and the Griplock hub are now up on the website, and the configurable Thrifty Swerve OnShape now has a configuration for wheel type that will change the wheel in the model. Apologies for the delay here.

Any estimate as to when the backordered punched box tubing will be back in stock?
