Chief Delphi presents:
Unsung FIRST Heroes
First of all, I’d like to thank you all for being patient while UFH was hyped & kept secret. We thought it would be fun to build up a little excitement during the off-season. I’m sorry if anybody felt left out, or was hurt in any way by all of the antics that happened in the past week+. It was all in fun.
There is a new UFH Forum. Please take your comments, suggestions, questions, etc., over to that forum if you have anything to say about UFH.
And now, onto Unsung FIRST Heroes!
–
The FIRST community oftentimes does not commend or appreciate many of the volunteer members for their actions, something that we felt was overlooked time and time again.
This is our way, and Chief Delphi’s way, of saying thank you - thank you for all the work these individuals have done, and thank you for their commitment to this program. The dedication of people like the Unsung FIRST Heroes make FIRST what it is. They exude gracious professionalism, a great mental spirit, and the fortitude that make us all proud to be involved. They are an inspiration to this FIRST community and an excellent example. They are the Unsung FIRST Heroes.
How it works:
- Members of the CD community submit nominations of people who they believe are Unsung FIRST Heroes.
- Nominations are evaluated by an anonymous panel of judges and put through a selection process.
- Nominees selected to become Unsung FIRST Heroes will be contacted and profiled.
- A new honoree will debut on the 1st and 15th of each month.
- The UFH forum is a place where you can discuss each honoree, share stories, embarrass them, etc.
The Rules:
- UFH is not about who is better or more deserving. There are many people in our community who are equally deserving of this award. If your nominee isn’t picked right away, please do not get upset. Remember Gracious Professionalism.
- We ask that you please do not nominate Woodie Flowers Award winners. While we agree that they deserve recognition, we would like to reserve UFH for those who have not been formally recognized for their efforts. Another feature is in the works for WFA winners.
- Please do not nominate a person more than once. Nominations not picked as honorees or eliminated by the committee will stay in the pool until they are picked or eliminated.
- Please do not nominate past honorees. They will not be picked again.
- Please keep nomination submissions to 250 words or less.
- You may nominate as many people as you like
-
Nominees do not
have to be Chief Delphi Forum members. - The ‘discuss’ feature for UFH will work in the same way as the ‘discuss this image’ feature works in the image gallery. Please only comment on honorees in threads created with this feature. This ensures that the forum stays under control by only having one thread per honoree. As of right now, the forum is unlocked to allow discussion of UFH in general. It will be locked if this rule isn’t followed.
- “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” Again, remember Gracious Professionalism. This is about honoring people, not bashing them.
There is a ‘Nominate Someone’ link on the top of any UFH page. That is how you submit a nomination.
