This is about as anti-gracious professionalism as you can get but....

Does anything stop a team from getting ahead by more than 2 penalties of points, driving 2 robots into the opposing teams goals, and hitting the E-stop?

It’d be a pretty terrible thing to do, and team 2225 does not plan on doing it. Just kinda a curiosity thing on my part.

I belive you would be D-Q’d if you flagrantly did this…

Thats what I figured. Kinda surprised it’s not in the rules as a red card issued offense

One can only have ONE alliance robot in the far section at a time. Therefore it negates the possibility of blocking both goals.

Refer to G29

Read the italics at the end of G29 a red card will be issued if the effort to correct problem is not immediate.

And although hitting the E-Stop avoids further Penalties, a Red Card is not a Penalty.

Dave has the answer to that:

Can you? Sure. Should you? Probably not.

Also, this strategy doesn’t ensure victory. Your opponent can still get bonus points at the end from hanging.

Note: I assume here that the refs would give you a red card for unsportsmanship-like conduct for doing this, which I don’t think is a very big assumption.

It would work well for your alliance partner who didn’t do it, because their robot wouldn’t be red-carded, and would still receive seeding points. The two robots that did the shutdown would lose their seeding points, thus making the match worthless for them.

In the eliminations, the red card would cause your alliance to lose the match.

So I don’t think this tactic would work well.

the following is from section 9(the tournament)

9.3.6 Seeding Point Exceptions
During the qualification matches, TEAMS can individually receive RED CARDS. A RED CARDED TEAM will receive zero seeding points and zero coopertition bonus.

You are forfeiting your teams points when you get a red card. Once again going back to the can you and should you. Your only hurting yourself by doing something like this. I would also bet that after a few red cards you may not be playing anymore… so is it worth it… ABSOLUTELY NOT.
