Thrifty Swerve Mounting with Krakens

In this picture right here we are mounting our krakens on our thrifty swerve modules and the screws seem to be getting in the way a tiny bit, but not really doing too much, so my question is is it fine to remove these screws? Do they do anything for the integrity of the motors? It doesn’t seem like it. If we leave them on will it impact the integrity of our modules?

Removing the screws is fine, but I would recommend covering the holes with electrical tape or similar to prevent debris from getting inside the motor.

The screw head will rub and pushout the kraken causing the gears to be non-parallel. You should remove and cover with electrical tape.

@Ryan_Dognaux maybe add a note in the guide about this?

Yeah, we noticed this and figured it would be a good idea to ask.

This same thing happens on other modules sold by other suppliers btw. You basically have to do the electrical tape trick.

Aren’t the holes blind-tapped on the Kraken? I know this was an issue on the falcons and original neos, but I don’t remember if vendors solved it for brushless 2. Probably good to do anyway, but unsure if it is a mission critical item or just a good practice

They’re referring to the inlet screws for air cooling I believe, which open up to the motor internals directly. The mounting screws are blind.
