Actually I was able to right 141 using our intake, major props to my operator for raising it quick enough! We’re glad it all worked out! Good luck to all teams with staying upright!
Nice tip at 1:08 and then a self recovery at 1:20. Impressive!
In qualifier 34 of the Central New York Regional 191 tipped over immediately after auto and 340 quickly picked them back up with our elevator and we went on to win the match.
What was the end result? A ton of penalties, disqualification? Stop the match?
It looks pretty clear that the match wouldn’t really proceed as a “normal”. (I’m mean yes it would still run, but did the other team just ignore the scale at that point?)
My personal favorite from the weekend: 340 using their lift to right 191 after auto at CNY.
Looks like it even got a standing ovation from Frank!
They also were granted a Yellow card.
I have been sent these two clips by fellow FIRSTers:
Firs link is an ALMOST tip. Second is HOT (67) actually tipping but getting back up again in amazing fashion.
Love these clips
Dr. Joe J.
Not quite tipped but certainly askew. Only cost one penalty. About the 1:10 mark.
the platform is only worth 5 points. Don’t crash into your partners at the end.
Robonauts tailgate climb in Qual 8 at Dallas.
We had an issue with the left side turning algorithm for auto. We had a similar issue one match prior, but this one ended up far worse. We didn’t break anything, and we still won the match (no help to us). Shoutout to 1285 for being careful around us! Also apologies to Karthik for dropping a cube on his ankle.
I was a ref at the NE WPI event, and one of the “highlights” was in Q24 when Team 88 managed to knock the Head Ref tablet INTO the field. I had worked on putting together a GIF of the official feed for Joe’s contest, but somebody with a better view than the official feed already posted it:
And the answer to that question, of course, is that it was a S05 violation and the robot was quickly disabled. I bet there are more “robots contacting outside the field” penalties this year than we’ve had in quite some time.
Since I did in fact bother extracting a .gif from the official feed, here it is. 88 is in the rear center, after placing a cube on the scale.
The FTA is the one who quickly sprang into action to bring the tablet back onto the field (reaching from the base, so as not to actually reach into the field). If I understood him correctly, he was worried because if one loses the head referee tablet, the system can’t submit the scores for the match and we would likely have to play the match over. (There is a spare tablet packed with the field if worst comes to worst, but one can’t add it into the FMS mid-match.)
Sadly I did almost the same thing. But the ref was agile and caught the stand as it tipped but we were disabled anyway.
Might be my favorite match all weekend. It was even cooler up close.
There’s a short clip in this highlight reel from Mount Vernon where team 4205 is tipped.
It happened in some of their qualification matches on multiple occasions, although I don’t remember which matches
We got this at our PCH qualifier match
Here are a couple of team 5550’s submissions:
I got excited when we delivered the cube for the first time. Excitement didn’t last long:

We now tell our teammates to not park under us when we climb:

Here is Finals at SD. We tip at 0:37 and lose by 10 points. 1538 then falls at 2:35.
