We at 296 have been working on a little project for the Canadian Regional. I’m under orders to keep this vague until it’s completely ready to go, but I want to issue a warning/suggestion to the teams attending the Canadian Regional.
We are going to be offering a service to all teams, one that you should find very useful. The only thing is that it requires you to have a wireless network card and if possible a computer that won’t be doing much else. (I suppose that if you don’t have a WiFi card and are close to us in the pits, we could probably run a cable to you if it’s safe)
This is something that I came up with for our pit at the BAE regional, and the mentors on our team still thank me weeks later for having made it. So we decided to expand it a bit and make it more automated and useful.
See you at the best regional of them all, and don’t forget your WiFi cards! (You might regret it if you do)
Regards,
Patrick Fairbank

Hm… our scouting system is completely wireless and will have 2-3 main base stations. We should publish our scouting system sometime… it’s really evolved in the last 3 years.
Scouts will be going around to teams to get data by hand. They’ll return to a base station to input data (Microsoft Access). That includes pictures, stats, and notes about a team. Friday night, we’ll be printing off all of that data (scouts use Access to auto-generate the info page) in the hotel room (bringing 2 new dual processor 2ghz computers). In addition, one scout will be videotaping every single match at Canada and that video will be split up into clips after each day in the hotel.
Come visit 639’s section in the stands sometime. People will be glad to show you around this system.
