Today Only... For all you Mac and Linux weenies out there...

Today only, CodeWeavers is making their CrossOver utility available for free. It is based on Wine and allows you to run
Windows applications on Linux or MacOS-X (Intel) without Windows. With any luck, you can run some of the development tools on
it. I’ve never tried, but if you get it now, we can figure that out later.

$70 dollar software for free…nice, but I will probably stick to WINE

I will probably stick with WINE too, but I grabbed a serial number anyways. Just in case.

If its free why not try it? Sure wine may work but theres no harm in knowing more right? I’ll be seeing how well it can run Solidworks.

nice, but if it’s based on wine maybe it will allow for more developements…I don’t know I’ve never even tried doing the program under my linux, but it makes me wonder now…I’ll try out both.

and I think this was mainly for Mac since Linux does have mainly wine to use.

Question for wine users: are there any notable applications that it will not run (eg Labview, MPLab, w/e the IDE is next year, office software compatible with MS office…)

Mac users can use wine (intel architecture can at least) There is a port of wine to os x called Darwine (WineBottler | Run Windows-based Programs on a Mac) Unfortunately, I haven’t had too much luck with it. Ive found that rebooting into windows xp is simpler by far.
