Too Dark?

Before I go on editing the themes any further, I’d like to know what your opinions are regarding the color scheme. I didn’t create/edit that theme, so I’m not sure if I should just change it a little bit, or find a completely different theme. Personally, I think I should find a lighter theme with a white/gray background.

Our team’s colors are green (a little darker than the current), black, and white.
Using Joomla! and SMF.

Very nice site.

Try switching the gray with the black on the main area and left frame below the banner. That should brighten the site up overall. Also, change the color of the text from gray to white.

My $0.02…

No, definitely not too dark. I think that the layout looks pretty good so far.

very nice, deffinently not too dark.

I would just make the words a san-sera font (like arial) instead of times new roman (or what ever the font is)

(sorry, thats one of the big things that bother me with websites…)

Thanks for the input so far.

I also just realized the current theme has no right sidebar, which throws off my calendar component (which is why I set it to a different theme). If I keep it, I may have to edit a lot of the HTML.

I’ll make the suggested changes and see how that looks, if not, I may have to find a three-column theme anyway.

well changing it to 3 columns shouldn’t be that hard… Just change a few numbers in the CSS, and you should be good to go…

i mean, none the less, it is work, and I hate it when things don’t work out. I would suguest that next time, plan it out on paper before you start creating it. (which is what I do for almost all the sites I create…)

Well, this started off as just a project to play around with Joomla! and SMF. There’s a plugin (JFusion) that I help Beta test, so this really wasn’t meant to be a team site (which is why it’s using DynDNS). After a while, I kind of started doing things here-and-there to it, so I decided to adapt it for our website.

Most likely I’m going to switch templates, since this one was made for 1.0.x anyway. It’s not a matter of being lazy so much as it’s just a huge compatibility-nightmare.

Joomla! and SMF

what???

Care to elaborate?

If you mean you don’t know what they are, Joomla! is a Content Management System (CMS) and Simple Machines Forum (SMF) is a free open-source forum software.

oh. ya, I had no clue what those were. XD Thanks!

The color scheme as-is looks fine. Just be sure it matches any colors your team may idenify with. :stuck_out_tongue: My team color is red. If you do decide to add in a right sidebar, and keep the left one, you’re going to have very little space in the middle to post content. At least on 1024x768. Maybe have a dedicated page for the calender? (I just clicked on WHAT WE DO and found a nice little calender thing, nvm) Style is fine, just make sure you have content, shiney pictures, and you should be good to go.

Oh and BTW, I like Sandwich too!

Yeah, you’re looking at a newer theme than originally discussed. I like this one better.

What I’m thinking for the homepage is leaving the main content on the left and moving all the sidebars to the right. The only reason I needed three columns was the calendar. For some reason, it went haywire when I used the two-column theme.

The “What We Do” is supposed to drop-down, but the theme only has one-level menus. I’ve got to buy a module that’ll do what I need.
