Too much pressure to succeed?

I wanted to make a post and see if other people felt the same way I do, maybe could give me/the community suggestions on what to do.

I was at my local kickoff today and I was watching the video and enjoying myself, but when we went back to my school to brainstorm I only felt stress and pressure to succeed and stopped having fun at all.

I should note that although my tag doesn’t reflect it (I can’t update it) I’m the president of my team. We’ve made so many changes this year, we increased our mentor count from one to four, for the first time we are building a half field in our library, and we raised the money to build a second robot to test the code on after stop build day.

I’ve looked at what successful teams do and now that I’m leading I tried to mimic that, but now I feel such an immense pressure to reach the levels of success they do that I’m not having fun anymore. What can I do?

If you want you can “pressure” yourself, but I wouldn’t suggest it. I think you should just think, “I’ll do my best and have fun doing it, even if I don’t succeed”. Trust me, you will be a lot happier. I really don’t think you need to have that immense pressure to succeed. Even though it can helpful at times to continue to push yourself forward, you really should just focus on having fun, and doing what you can do best.

Take the weekend off and relax. Overly stressing will do nothing but hinder your ability. Come back at it with a clear head, and focus on what you can do to succeed, since it sounds like you laid out a pretty good base for the year already.

I’d be mindful about it. It’s a robotics competition bro. You don’t have to worry about things too hard. You’re only doing it because you want to anyway.
