Hi all,
We are currently designing a tool cart for our FRC team, and we were just looking at other teams’ designs. We are a second year team and are looking to be more organized in our pit. Here is kind of a bad picture on camera, but we wanted to make something modular.
Here’s what 1293 has built. It’s been working like a champ as both storage and as a pit table!
Thank you, that helps out a ton!
With our pit, Our ratio of Quickness to Cleanliness is pretty perfect in my book. If you want, I can try get some pictures and videos of just how smooth our transition from shop to event is just to give you an idea. Somewhere on here too, MrBasse has some pictures of the workbench and our battery cart.
It’d be a shame if no one mentioned Strike Zone 5460. At Detroit in 2019, I noticed their pit was near ours, and I couldn’t help but be impressed.
They have their own CD thread for it actually - here.
My team won the best pit award last offseason as well. Here is some pazazz to add:
- If you have totes, put your number across them (ex we had two rows of four columns, so we put: “TEAM 2539”
- Use a similar color scheme (we tried to be orange and black)
- Have a display showing statistics and matches. If you do do this be careful because this may draw other teams to watch in your pits, creating unnecessary clutter.
- LED’s always look good around a pit cart
- Have designated spots for hardware, parts, tools, etc…
- Hide wires on your pit cart, but make them easily accessible (ex. we ran our battery charger wires through a hole in pegboard.
- A good-looking robot cart also always helps.
- Sponsor boards can be put on top
- Put up balloons to be able to see your pit from faraway. (And everyone else can see it too)
Hopefully some of that helps.
