Top 10 Uses for the 10 Point Balls

Seeing as they almost never even hit the field, I’m thinking there must be some uses for them. Here’s some (and feel free to add more):

Eddie’s Top 10 Uses for the 10 Point Balls

  1. Well, you could actually try scoring with them. :stuck_out_tongue:
  2. Maybe you want to relive FIRST’s 10th anniversary (after all, they both had yellow 10 point balls. and/or it does say “10” on it)
  3. To show you’re from St. Louis Park, Minnesota (bonus points if you get this reference)
  4. Christmas ornaments
  5. I suppose they can hold your dinner or drinks on a long build night
  6. A non-functional decoration (hey, it’s legal)
  7. Combine them with duct tape and make it into a carrying case for your tools
  8. Life-size game of Pong (although IMO, the 10 point balls from 2001 were much better for that)
  9. Using them to show your appreciation for a Top 10 List
  10. Cut them in half and use them as a BUZZ smilie face

This has been an official “Eddie’s Top 10 List”. The Top 10 List is an official property of and sponsered by The Holy order of FIRSTism, and my not be copied, reproduced, or retransmitted in way without the expressed written consent of The Holy Order of FIRSTism.

Although you briushed on this one with #1, cut them in half and make hats out of them. If they fit on your head!!

They are also rather useful for a goog ol’ school game of four square, dodge ball, or kick ball!!! Ahhhhh…brings back mememories of elementry school and last weekend

p.s. Team 521 is always young at heart in case you were not able to catch our speradic scooter races/derbies we would hold outside of the Meadows with our nifty scoots courtesy of the local elementry school dumpster

Wait, are you talking about the crab scooters??? The square piece of (hard)plastic with 4 castors on the corners?? I loved those!! So much fun came from those, and a few skinned knees as well, cause I though I would be cool and ride it with one knee, till I learned the physics of castors… ie: they go wherever they want to go, and not necessarilly where you aim…

None other my friend!!! Word to the wise they can get very dangerous if you are wearing a lab coat at the same time something they dont teach you in elementry school

I vote Calvinball

Although, running around Walmart/Target/Kmart with one of them (aka walking around while bouncing it and thus fighting over it) while looking for other 13" ‘playground’ balls is fun too. Yep, fighting over them and acting like you’re back in elementary school (when you’re in high school) in front of random people is always amusing. And those square scooter things from way back when are awesome too (of course)

My team’s done that. At the facility where we build our robot and have our practice field, one of our team members made a four square “field” (I dont know what else to call it) out of duct tape (this was on a concrete floor). When we were bored or had finished eating lunch, we would play four square using the 5 pt balls (we used the 5 pt balls as 10 pt balls for our practice field)

Cut them in half, and with either some duct tape or string…you can make great knee pads.

Attitude adjustors. Anyone on your team having any attitude problem…throw the ball at the back of their head and boink the attitude is adjusted

They make excellent chairs if you can balance yourself on them.

I think throwing them in the goal and making it in should be number one, namely because of its improbability of occuring. I had the chance to throw the only one that went into play at UTC(during normal game play, not practice) and it went in and then out at the bottom of the goal because the poles were moving too much. I am still beating myself up over it, but oh well. We have a funny hat made out of one of our red practice balls, quite humorus.

Trying to cover up a bald spot, Elgin?

Anyway, they don’t have to be cut in half. I did it in 2000, and I saw a cameraman at LA with one on, too.

Bald spot??? BAH!!! What are you talking about? That was intentional… (honest)

Ok, ok, so I lost a bet with the team… Whoop dee doo!!!
