Just a reminder for those wanting coverage of the Waterloo regionals and GTR regionals in Ontario this year.
It’s tough right now to get positive news on the air, just the trend right now but some of it still gets through and we just have to try harder.
Some changes have happened though in the Toronto area.
CityTv no longer has noon and weekend local news at all so you will have to make you case for them to send a camera/reporter out on the Friday.
CP24 is a good bet for live coverage.
I will do my best to get something on Global and Weather network as usual.
I think the important thing to stress this year to get the assignment editors interested is the good visuals, the excitement and passion that goes along with anything related to soccer, it will be intense this year for sure on the field and in the stands, so if some one is sending anything out to you’re local TV and radio stations and newspapers perhaps send a clip of the most intense action you have, I’m thinking this will be like aim high.
The key to tripping that magic switch inside an assignment editor’s head I think is you have to get them to think “wow this is good!” in the FIRST 10 SECOND of them reading or watching you’re press release. I work in the business and I still can’t figure it out but I have noticed that no matter what the event or incident if I can wow the producers, assignment editors and managing editor in the fist 10 seconds I might have their attention for another 10 seconds and that’s when they make the call.
