TorBots, FRC Team 1197 has a critical need for an experienced post-college mechanical design engineering mentor, as well as additional post-college mentors of any experience in manufacturing, project management, and CAD (OnShape) who can meet in-person during the school year. TorBots is located at Torrance’s South High School.
Expected involvement during the school year is roughly 1-2x a week, ramping up to 3x a week during the traditional build and competition season, but we are flexible and appreciate any time mentors are able to contribute.
Students have access to a CNC router, arc welder, 3D printers, manual mill, and other standard shop machinery.
TorBots’ success relies on its partnership between motivated student leaders and adult professionals. We strive to be more competitive in the highly-contested California region and provide our students with the technical and professional skills they need to excel beyond high school. Now approaching its 22nd FRC season, TorBots is seeking more help to become a more competitive and effective program.
