Tote CAD model dimensional error

Caution to all teams using the provided CAD models of field elements (STEP,Solidworks and Inventor) to design mechanisms to manipulate the totes.

First off, the length and height of the totes compared between the CAD model, game manual and physical measurements are the same (at least within 0.03" based on average measurements on the 5 totes we had)

The width in the game manual and the physical measurements match, but the CAD width is narrower by about 0.625"

Physical width = 16.875"
Game Manual = 16.9"
CAD model = 16.25"

Since I would consider a sample size of 5 small, please verify and comment on your findings to the contrary or agreement.

I’ve contacted the FIRST Autodesk rep and he is going to track down a corrective action. In the meantime, you can use the solid model modification tools to add the differential width at your discretion. It looks like the “lip” or undercut distance is accurate.

Thanks for this. Things could have ended badly if someone was unaware of this problem.

Thanks for this I will go check all our cad models and see if they are wrong too.

This is what I found in looking at the supplier models. They’re definitely off. So long as you’re aware of it this shouldn’t be a huge problem.

Working on a solution now.

I made a mock up of the tote based on the supplier’s website.

It is worth noting the “official” model from FIRST also has an incorrect height.

The mock up will go live on SOLIDWORKS website tonight. http://i.imgur.com/ACOCIdx.jpg
