Hello, this is Taheful Alam for the team 6636, I am a freshmen rookie in this team. Recently our team has come across a problem with the motors in our drive train for the last year’s robot. The problem was that the motors made a weird sound, a grinding sound, and we have inferred that the gears were getting grinned and we dont know how to solve this problem. Does someone know how to fix this problem, if so then please reply to this post.
Have you tried disassembling the gear box to see if anything is actually grinding? When you first assembled the gear box did you thouroughly coat all of the gears with grease? Is it the motors or the gearbox that are producing the grinding sound?
I would reccomend taking everything apart and checking for any debris inside the gearbox or severe wear on the gears. Some wear is fine, but the gears should have the same overall profile that they started with. If everything looks to be in working order put it all back together and see if the problem persists.
