TPU90A Grippy Tire CAD published (Finally)

This is similar to what 2468 did with for the maxswerve version. We modified the 111 CAD above and then pressed the original steel hubs from REV into the plastic wheel we printed. This added the strength by the bearing we needed it.

That looks almost exactly like what we used last year. Never trimmed the lip we could stretch it over easy enough and just cut the used printed tread off for simple removal. Mr.Jacksdad posted them earlier in this thread. We also have a suspension version with a printed hub. We used printed cf-12 for the hubs

Actually the printed tread makes it so you have to work at cross threading screws. You are not trying to take something flat and straight and force it around a circle. You just have to make sure the holes are lined up when sliding the tread on and even then it is easy enough to kinda pry and slide the holes in the print and the bolt holes to line up

Yep, I did not have a good easy way to press the stiff TPU over the lip and IMHO the lip does not give the wheel much strength but is meant to keep the flat nitrile tread in place. I also wanted my TPU tread to fairly snug over the wheel but with enough slip to allow easy change out and easy hole alignment. We have also played with a design similar to what @traxxasracr1 did above over the SDS Colson hubs and a fully printed version with CF infil 3DP and the TPU tires

To date the best traction we have found is with the TREED recycled rubber filament. Its a little pricey but worth it. We would use a set of tread for qualifications then put on fresh tread for playoffs. The tread left after playoffs was still good to use for some practice time.

I got a chance to hop on the printers and make a test wheel assembly. Using Overture 95a high speed TPU on a Bambu X1c on standard Bambu hf TPU settings for the tread. The wheel itself is PLA-CF. Everything fits nicely. Now Iā€™m going to print a full set and test on the robot over the span of the next handful of meetings

Like how u captured the tread with the plastic pieces

We found a minor wear difference between the TREED and Overture 95a but a big difference with grip. The TREED would be done after 12 qualifying matches and we would replace the tread before playoffs

Another suspension tread for consideration:
Release of 3d printed suspension treads from frc team 3737.
3737 have used this design for 2 years.

I made a design for max swerve based on the 3737 design. Will test soon.

First Test Print Came out way too stiff in 95A, I guess there is a reason they used soft TPU.
