I can’t find any notes about a parking area for trailers at Houston Championships. Not covered that I see in the A-Z guide.
St Louis used to have a parking lot available for this purpose.
The hotel we are staying at (west near Galleria) has a parking garage and they have indicated they will not allow us to bring a trailer into the garage.
Found this to be an issue as well. Didn’t find a great alternative, so our trailer driver is staying at a different hotel from the rest of the team a few miles away that had trailer accessible parking. Not quite sure how the event planners expected teams to handle the situation, but it doesn’t seem to be too large of a concern for them.
I may be able to work something out with my campus as well. We are located about 2 miles (driving) from the convention center. The MetroRail also passes right by our school. PM me if you think you’d need this option. Also include the size/length of your trailer.
Trailer and Bus parking is always a challenge at the GRB.
WARNING: If you are not careful, you will get ripped off, ticketed, booted, or towed at some of the surface lots.
These lots usually have an attendant loitering in the parking lot that takes your money and gives you a card to put on your dash board. Occasionally it is a scam artist trying to take your money. Make sure their Identification, shirt, or jacket matches the company name and/or logo posted at the parking lot.
I always ask to see ID and then take a picture of the attendant and/or the vehicle they are sitting in. If you take up 2 parking places, be prepared to pay double…and sometimes you have to pay again after 6:00 pm depending on the lot.
I’m shocked (NOT Really) that FIRST appears to have no plan for buses and trailers. VERY Disappointing.
I don’t mind paying to park, I just wish FIRST would have arranged for an official parking lot that was available and open for our use during Champs.
For us coming from Calif and not knowing about trailer parking or drop off of our pit is just not acceptable. We are spending a lot of time and money why has this not been adressed
Thirded. So, I guess my plan at this point is to arrive with the trailer and four students around 1:00 on Wednesday, then see if there are signs or something, and hope that we are done unloading within four or five hours. Take the trailer back to the hotel. I got nothin’ else.
There are plenty of surface lots during the day for trailer parking on the east side of 59.
There are also city parking meters everywhere on the East side of 59 (across the freeway from the GRB Convention center).
The overnight trailer parking is the bigger question mark. Call your hotel and ask if they have an option for overnight trailer parking.
In the past Lone Star Regional had a designated surface lot on the east side of 59 for trailer parking.
Free Trailer Parking for Teams at St. Agnes Academy
9000 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, Texas, 77036
I’ve worked with my schools to setup a portion of the parking lot for teams to use to park their trailers while in Houston.
Please park at St. Agnes Academy (NOT Strake Jesuit College Park) in the North West Corner of the rear parking lot. I’ve been contacted by dozens of teams so please attempt to take up as few spaces as possible so we don’t distrupt the parking for students on Thursday and Friday. The area is circled in red and highlighted on the map below. Note you will go over several speed bumps to enter the rear parking lot. Also note on Saturday and Sunday (and most evenings) only the gate at Pella Dr. and Bellaire Blvd will be open.
Please let me know if you are planning to use this lot so I can keep a count of the number of teams coming in.
