Trying to get TorqueNADO motor encoder to work with the REV control

We are a rookie team using Block programming. We have the standard Tetrix kit of parts. We are using a TorqueNADO motor connected to the REV controller with the encoder cable provided (No Logic Level Converter). We tried configuring the motor as a Tetrix motor and as a Neverest Motor and cannot get the encoder to work.
