Here are my “power rankings” for teams using the same metrics I’ve been using for FRCTop25 the past few weeks.

Note: Due to the bracketed scoring of rotors, gear contribution is generally underestimated (especially when gear power exceeds 4). Also, the “Combined Power” is clearly arbitrary and is just a baseline for comparing teams, so I use two metrics.

Combined power = (gearContribution / maxGearContribution) + (fuelContribution / maxFuelContribution)

4468’s really excited to go! Here’s a site with more stats on the teams:
https://frc.divisions.co/r/south/d/Turing

4451 is ready to play and excited to have an invitation to Houston!

Turing is not as deep with shooters as some other divisions. Should be interesting to see how strategies play out, but 4 rotor play will drive rankings in Turing.

David

Team 948 is definitely looking forward to playing with all of the great teams on our field!

Cheers::safety::

This is a very interesting division. We are very excited to see some of our friends in this division and very much looking forward to compete.

Looking forward to Champs. Lots of teams in Turing that we haven’t met before. Can’t wait to meet all the amazing teams!

Strong PNW influence.

3476 Video Highlights Posted for pre-Scouting.
Code Orange, Team 3476, from Orange County, California has posted our 2017 Highlights Video on YouTube.
https://youtu.be/jMiGuEQTRAM
Code Orange competed at the San Diego and Orange County Regionals.
We were part of the Alliance with the Quals High Score in Orange County with 420 points.
The excitement is building as we start to pack our trailer for some of the team to make the drive to Houston.

We’re looking forward to 1/2 champs and competing in the Turing division. Be sure to check our bot out

I know our team is very much looking forward to competing on Turing with such great teams, including many of our friends from the PNW. I myself won’t be going to Houston but I’ll be watching the stream. Good luck to everyone

Any thoughts about how today went in Turing? Was there any particularly exciting part of the first day for your team?

Has anyone else notices something going on with the #2 spot on the red alliance side? I’ve seen a lot of teams have connection troubles mid-match and even having the robot acting funky. I was nervous going into our match with 1318 and 4206 and low and behold we had a lot of problems. Robot driving weird, laggy controls, etc…

Just curious if anyone else was experiencing this.

I am volunteering as a queuing person on this field, I thought today started off a little shaky but after about the first 10 or 15 matches we got everything sorted out field side.

We were a little behind but got caught up over lunch and ended up supposedly being the first field to finish matches for the day.

I know I’m reviving an old thread but I gotta give a hand to all the great teams on Turing this year. This was my first year going to Worlds and I’m amazed at how astounding all the teams are. If you happen to see this Bomb Squad, I’m curious as to what happened with your Swerve modules in the last matches. I thought for sure you’d head to Einstein … especially with your Swerve Drive.

Thanks for the compliments. We felt really good about our alliance, but we couldn’t pull it out.

S2-1 (W): We lost a master link on the steering chain on one of our modules. This strained 3 the 775 drive motors and completely killed one of them.

S2-2 (L): We barely got things back together, but we weren’t able to change out any drive motors. We had smoked all 4 drive motors by the end of the match. The smell on the field was awful. We weren’t able to climb and an alliance partner lost their gear hanging ability.

S2-3 (L): We got all 4 drive motors changed out and ran fine, but an alliance member lost comms after their first trip down the field and stayed down the rest of the match. We couldn’t overcome that going up against a very good PNW alliance.

I can vouch on the “barely” part*, but don’t recall the smell afterwards**. I was wondering a little bit myself. Weren’t you guys finishing up as the cart started to roll, or was that S2-3?

*Being one of the designated “you need to get moving” folks…
**I think I was at the other end of the field for that one.

Yes, that was a little bit of a mess, mostly because of me (drive coach). I tried to send our backup on, but didn’t get the form submitted in time. About the time they were forcing our backup off the field, we were rolling up with a repaired robot. We were lucky to get on the field that match.
