www.3dcafe.com - tons of 3d modelling stuff
www.the3dstudio.com - models and some tutorials
www.deviantart.com - all kinds of tutorials

all excellent resources…but i’m not sure why you wouldn’t want to use the 3ds max tutorials?

I learned a lot from 3d cafe

Probally the best site to find some max help would be http://www.3dbuzz.com/ with their video VTMs. Really makes it easy to learn from. Please remember to support the 3D Buzz comunity.

Just out of curiosity, why don’t you want to use the 3ds max tutorials included with the software? I’ve found them to be very complete and well written. They also cover a wide variety of topics.

I do recall a couple other threads where i put the links to this.
First off, explore and use the book to get introduced to all the buttons.

For the last couple of years, Ted Boardman (legend who looks like santa) has put up video tutorials.

Here was last years link. I am sure he will update them for this upcomming year (note there are inventor and 3ds max tutorials).

Hope this helps.

P.S. Where’s the spell check??!?!?!?!

saliksyed.tripod.com (my site…like 3 tutorials!)

I´m amateur in grpahic design. is my hobby

I have been following the “Fundamentals courseware 3dsmax5 descreet” book,
is excellent. But by now I have trouble to understand the diferent classes of shaders, I´m talking about the material editor, Such shaders are anisitropic, blinn, metal, Oren-Nayer-Blinn, Phong, Strauss, and translucent shader.

Someone know where on the web I can found more information about this topics? or someone recomend me a book.

If so please e-mail oriol.cortes@kodak.com

you can find help by pressing F1 in max6. There’s a page dedicated to explaining the different types of shaders.
