Type of connector OV2311 uses?

Does anyone know where we may be able to buy a USB that plugs into the back of this camera? The one that comes with it was damaged so we wanted to buy a new one and could not find it.

It’s a JST-ZH. We have not found a source for a direct replacement USB cable. Thanks to a suggestion from @Weldingrod1 we bought a kit with precrimped wires and were able to splice those onto the ends of some USB cables (we had extra USB-to-JST-PH cables, so we chopped those off and put on the JST-ZH instead). My suggestions:

  • Go slow and work carefully, the wires are still tiny.
  • Make the spliced-on wires as short as you can manage to work with (I think ours were about 1-1/4" or so).
  • The insulation on the wires in the kit is so thin we were literally stripping it with fingernails instead of tools.
  • Insulate each splice before you put the terminals in the housings, using small diameter heat shrink or a little piece of electrical tape. And slip on a larger piece of heat shrink to cover the whole assembly later.
  • Be sure to assemble the terminals in the right sequence (match the existing).
  • We added a little hot glue to support the wires where they enter the JST-ZH housing, twisted the wires gently, then did up the outside heat shrink.

We’ve successfully built a couple of these, will probably do a few more to have spares ready for competition.

BTW, we previously bought a kit of JST-ZH terminals and attempted to crimp our own. That was an abject failure, as none of our crimpers could come close to getting a good crimp on these miniscule terminals. I would not recommend this approach.
