Bio: Warren Boudreau is being honored as our fourteenth Unsung FIRST Hero for his amazing efforts as a mentor. Serving as the team leader for #180 SPAM, Warren has lead a successful team and been a great source of guidance for his students. Warren is a helpful and guiding light on the SPAM team, often providing his skills and expertise for the benefit of others.
Warren had a powerful experience that roped him into the FIRST community. “My favorite memory is the first time I walked in to a FIRST competition seven years ago. The atmosphere was electric (no pun intended). Students were running around in face paint and working on the robots. It had all of the excitement of a big high school football game, but everyone was pulling for everyone else. From then on, I was hooked.” Warren has also helped out multiple teams at competitions.
Modestly, he lists his team accomplishments. “For me, my biggest accomplishment was herding a group of 50+ cats (a.k.a., students) to the UCF regional and the National Championship. Everything else was a team effort.” That is a tough enough job in itself! In his nomination, Warren was credited with always attending FIRST meetings and supporting his team.
Warren also shares a bit of advice for fellow FIRSTers: “Advice for students, stick with it. You are getting a chance to do things that most degreed engineers never do. The things that you learn in FIRST will carry you through your post-high school years. Teamwork, cooperation, and gracious professionalism aren’t just buzzwords. They are real.”
Congratulations to Warren Boudreau, an amazing mentor, outstanding FIRSTer, and our fourteenth Unsung FIRST Hero.
YAY! he deserves it, trust me. the man is an incredable mentor. and he deffenetly knows what hees talking about. hees always been helpful in every way to his students and me. He had cancer and he came to Spam’s meetings bald from kemo barely able to speak. and he was still the most caharsmatic and determned mentor ive ever seen.
WE LOVE YOU!!! YOU ARE A TOTALLY AWESOME MENTOR!!! THANKS FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO!! U REALLY DO PROMOTE THE VALUES OF FIRST AND ALWAYS KEEP THE SPIRIT OF S.P.A.M. ALIVE!!!
EVEN WHEN YOU WERE SICK YOU CAME AND HELP US OUT!! WARREN WE GLAD U’R DOING BETTER!!! THANKS AGAIN FOR EVERYTHING!!!
Typing as Tiffany types! Congratulations to the best SPAM mentor ever… Mr Boudreaux. He’s a real help to the team and always being there for us! SPAM wouldn’t be the same with out you! Thank you for everything you’ve done for us. Keep on with team spirit! We love you!
Thank you for showing a wise-cracking, senior football player that you can have fun doing things other than sports.
Thank you for turning an immature “tweener” into a full-fledged mentor.
Thank you for helping a confused high school graduate realize what he wanted to do with his life (working with high schoolers… not that boring engineer stuff ;-]).
Finally, thank you for inspiring me and being a great friend all these years.
Congratulation Warren… personlly i would like to thank you for everything you did for us… and thanks to the whole team SPAM… you deserve this Warren and i am glad that we have great mentors like you in FIRST…
Congrats! SPAM is a great team full of class acts and a blast to be around. You’ve obviously done a wonderful job! Hope my team will one day be as great as 180 is now.
Congrats, Warren! You more than deserve this. As I’ve told you before, you are one the main reasons I got into engineering. You showed me that engineering can be a total blast. I couldn’t help but catch your enthusiast spirit! Congrats again!
Congradulations Warren! You really showed your dedication to your team and to FIRST by attending meetings and events even while you seemed to be almost unable to do so, during this past year. I think that the amount of effort that you put into this program deserves great recognition, such as Chiefdelphi’s Unsung FIRST Hero award. Great job.
By the way, I was not the only person who thought we should nominate you, I was just the one to submit it.
I dont know you personally, however its a huge honor to be a first unsung hero. The reason FIRST is such a huge success is due to the effort and work that people like you present. I am grateful for mentors like you, its what makes our time here special.
Seriously, after my wife I consider Warren my best friend. It’s great to have someone you can have fun with and be totally honest with too. There’s noone I’d rather hang around with. Working together (2 different places), raising kids together, roboticizing together (7 years?), calmly discussing college football/basketball/baseball (something feels wrong seeing your name with the letters UF in front of it, albeit UFH  ).
Congrats cajun. (I can’t call you c.a., I’d get bounced from the forum).
