Must be a system test.

And ref training.

Practice matches are used for system tests and referee training. Be happy the refs are learning how to score the game. Especially in the early weeks. It is the first time the refs have called this year’s game.

Only 850 in penalties per side though!

And maxed out grid points. I guess people were right that we were going to see a completed grid early in the season.

That’s a lot more than max though…

Edit: I guess it’s only 20 more points than what’s possible but ehh whatever.

It’s maxed out in auton. 9 x 6 + 9 x 4 + 9 x 3 + 9 x 5 = 162.

Wait so to clarify, this isn’t a real game?

You can tell it’s a practice match because of the way it is.

Practice matches don’t count for anything and are just as much for volunteer training as they are for teams.

Practice matches are not generally played as real games. You might not have a full count of referees and scorers. Heavy defense is frowned upon. Teams often work on skill sets rather than winning. You don’t get replays because of field faults. Scores and penalties may not be accurate.

Depends on the field fault and the FTA. Coms issues, typically no. Something happening resulting in a fog horn. Reset the field and let everyone swap out their battery.

I have seen a fog horn result in the next match being played with the same teams if all of them have passed inspection and the queue is not backed up. Since we have the rule “ROBOTS are permitted to participate in scheduled Practice MATCHES prior to passing inspection” in previous years I had seen FTAs/Queing just let you in a match before or after your scheduled one if they had a slot for you but this year they were much more diligent about giving a team who hadn’t passed inspection their exact practice match in their exact driver station slot.

Sort of inline with my point. It largely depends on who is running the field and the logistics of the individual event. Being in a district, it has a while since we had a practice match. It is more of a regional thing.
