Ultimate FRC Tab extension release

Hey I’m Gavin from 1189. Inspired by FRCNewTab, I made an extension that shows you a random robot image and an overlay with the team number, name, and epa, which disappears on hover. You can enter a specific event to only see teams that play in that event and you can customize whether or not you want to be shown teams who don’t have photos (you can link a custom background photo for those cases), as well as the year you want to see robots from.

It’s obviously very similar to FRCNewTab, I was using that extension for a while and I think its great, but there were a few key things I wanted to change that seems a little too fundamental to pr.

Here are the few things I wanted to change

  1. The only options for switching the pool of teams was to enter them manually, so it showed teams that haven’t competed in years.
  2. There was no option to not show teams without images, and it seemed like the majority it selected didn’t have images which I wanted to avoid.
  3. The images of the robots were cropped to fill the screen, which looks better but I didn’t like how it sometimes cutoff details I wanted to see.
  4. I wanted to see teams epa

My extension fixed these things for me, however it’s a lot less customizable then FRCNewTab, so it’s not necessarily a replacement, it’s up to personal preference.

It’s available on firefox and chrome and the source code can be found on github. Feel free to submit issues or pull requests. Although I can’t guarantee I’ll get to them. Regardless I’d love to make it more customizable and less manual in terms of pulling teams in the future, since right now it can only show robots from 2022 and 2023.
