We set up the serial to CAN adapter as the guides on ni.com said to. We downloaded the new BDC-COMM 107 software. We are not getting a list of devices inside the utility, but the LED’s act like they are supposed to. Does anybody know how to fix this so we can update firmware?
Remember that when multiple Jaguars are connected together for the first time in a CAN setting, they will all have board ID one. If you can successfully connect to the network, go to the System tab of BDC-COMM, enter and assign new ID numbers to all of the Jaguars, and then see if they are all listed.
I only had one jaguar connected because I knew that I might have that problem, but even with only one connected, I don’t get a drop down list of board ID’s.
Do you have a terminator in the right CAN port of the Jaguar? Your Serial to CAN adaptor will only work when plugged into the left CAN port. (There are 6 contacts in the left port, while there are only 4 in the right)
That doesn’t sound right. ID changes are instantaneous. The Jaguar should pulse its LED for the same count as its ID, immediately after you press the recessed button with a straightened paper clip.
There is a short time period while the LED flashes green, for this button to be hit. We usually have two people setting the ID’s, so we aren’t fumbling for the button while the window closes. The button pusher counts the amber pulses to verify the setting.
