Unable to install REVLib-LabVIEW-2023 ... Help

Does anyone have any thoughts on this issue with Labview?

I’m trying to get LabView for the 2023 season up and running. I’ve got the basic LabView installation complete but I’m having trouble with the “REVLib-labVIEW-2023.1.1-0_windows_all.nipkg” installation.

From my read of the installation procedure this is the next step after getting any update to my LabView installation. When I execute the package I get the error:

“A package you selected, or one of its dependencies, requires the latest version of Package Manager to continue with installation. Visit Using Info Codes and enter the Info Code NIPMUpdate for more information.”

I’m not sure of the process to update the Package Manager. Does anyone have any thought on this?

The other issue that may be in fact related is I can’t get the updates, the message I’m getting in the following screenshot:

Did you have an older version installed? It’s best to uninstall EVERYTHING and then do your install.

This didn’t show up in the beta, but it seems like the latest REV installers require the 23 version of the NI Package manager. I have that version, and I believe that beta teams did as well. I’ll need to investigate a bit more.

I did remove all of the old NI software. I’m doing this on three different computers. One of them is a brand new Lenova PC that I had received from FIRST choice.

Do you let me know if there is a way to get version 23 from the NI site. I’ll poke around there - but my attempts to upgrade the existing NI Package Manager have meet with failure.

Correction: We are also unable to install the Rev Package.

I also have this issue. Tried to resolve it by completely uninstalling and reinstalling all NI products. Same problem occurred after doing so. Currently stuck and with nothing else left I can think of to try.

After installing the labview code and before installing the REV software I did install the driving station software. Is the order somehow important?

I’m having the same issue. I uninstalled everything, selected 2024 labview, and reinstalled. I then installed game tools, but when I went to install rev I it gave me the pmupdate error. I uninstalled package manager and installed the latest version from NI’s website but it still didn’t work. CTRE and navx worked just fine, I’m confused why rev is having issues.

Just curious if you installed the driver station software. Is there any way to contact NI directly about this on Monday. Since if I can’t get this to work I’ll be moving to C++.

Yes. Installed FRC Game Tools (2023) including the Driver Station software before attempting to install REVLib 2023.1.1.

I can confirm that we are also having this issue on both computers tried so far. No other issues installing any other of the new software releases for this year.

Where would I find the CTRE and NAVx installation packages?

On one of my computers I removed all of the NI and related software components and reinstalled LabView and tried the REV component and I’m having the same issue.

What versions of the installation packages did you install?

Nope. Doesn’t work. I had to go back over what the students claimed. You can install the Rev Hardware Client. You cannot install the Rev Labview API. Needs a newer version of package manager than is available to the public.

I would suggest contacting Rev and asking them to build with the package manager used with game tools and not the 2023 one.

The issue here is that the REVLib package declares that it should be installed by version 23 of the NI Package manager. But no such version has been officially released. I suspect that a development version was given to beta teams that that resulted in this bad reference.

Rev has been contacted, but I have not heard back. Tomorrow I will also find out when a 23 version of the package manager will be released. Either of these paths will result in a working install, but nothing else will. There is no reason to uninstall or take any other action until you either have version 23 of NIPM or a newer version of the REVLib package.

Greg,

I want to thank you for your response to my set of LabView woes. I’m hoping Rev or NI release some compatible packages very soon.

Rob

Me too. It is Sunday, so I’m sure it will get resolved soon.
