Unable to submit WFA due to previous mentor winning WFA

Hello, I am new as I made this account purely to ask for help regarding this situation. FIRST has been contacted via email, but I am genuinely curious if anyone else has experienced this themselves.

I am on Team 5295, who has a previous WFA Championship winner on our team as our mentor. We have made it routine to submit a WFA essay every year, this years being a bit more confusion than the last.

When I go in to submit my essay and the information regarding our nomination and r, etc. it allows me to fill that all out fine. After filling that out, it gives the requirement of renominating a previous WFFA winner, essay and all. Considering our mentor has won the WFFA and the WFA, he is the only one available on the mentor drop down menu… implying we have to nominate him again for an award he already won, going through the entire process of writing another essay and all.

We don’t have much time left to submit the award (FIRST refused to recognize me as the designated award submitter leading to this holdup), and I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and/or knows what to do. Thank you so much! You are a lifesaver.

Here is an image as example of what I mean by “Renomination of prior WFFA”

I messaged you, but it seems to me that you should NOT pick your prior winner from the dropdown, as you are NOT obligated to choose/renominate them - I think that is perhaps where you are confused. It is not a “requirement” to renominate them.

I would attempt to undo any selection of your previous winning mentor and see if that permits you to then submit the essay for your new nominee.
