OK, that being said, I’ve upgraded to IE8 at home. Work still uses IE6, no choice there.
I don’t find my lack of control over things in IE8 “better” than IE6. I want my tools in certain places for my ideal ergonomics; I can’t do that in IE8
But, I admit a certain fondness for DOS, so maybe I’m the wrong guy to rant about it. I promise to be a good little sheep and do whatever they tell me to.
My company just started upgrading from IE 6 to IE 7 because (paraphrased) “the security risks started to outweigh the compatibility issues with existing applications”.
From the perspective of a person who makes those applications, based purely on how many problems IE8 has caused for us, I can say that early upgrades are almost as bad as late upgrades.
