!Urgent! What can we use instead of a serum rubber for our climbing system?

Hi!
We are having a problem with the climbing system. Since serum rubbers have a chance to be broken, we need something to use instead of a serum rubber. What can we use?

What do you ise the eubber for?

I’m guessing you are referring to what we in the US call surgical tubing.

If that is the case, and you are using it as a spring, then yes it can break, however in normal FRC use I have not seen that as a problem.

For longest life don’t let it be stretched for long periods of time. For example at the end of your meeting release the mechanism it is powering so it doesn’t sit overnight at maximum stretch.

Inspect for damage after each match and replace if you see any cuts, or cracks. We’ve used it for more than one event w/o failure.

The other option is to use steel springs.

Please give us more context so we can help.

Bungee cord is another option, but less stretch ratio. All the really high ratio stuff is notch sensitive, so make sure there are no sharp bits touching it.
