Hello everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that I have updated the UTC New England regional to include as much information as possible.
Head over to http://www.utc.com/commun/first/ and click on The BIG Event section to see several links to team rankings, match results, final alliances, pictures, quotes, and more.
Thank you for your interest and please send feedback, pictures, stories, anything that you might like to see up on the site.

P.S. Good luck to everyone involved in upcoming regionals and at the nationals!

Eric-
Your site is great, with lots of results fast. For those of us who have to wait until next week, it was a good “stats” fix.
Thanks!

I agree with Ken, awesome job!
I am curious about if anyone did well with the stretcher in the game. How often was it used during qualifying. My guess it is that not many teams are able to move it (with a robot on it) quickly over the bridge. Did it ever get used in the eliminations?

Great job UTC!
KSC page is http://www.soap108.com/ksc/
About ~6 coupons used in KSC, none in Elim
Rounds!
Look for the movies section on the above site for
match074 - its an example of Team 233 pulling
stretcher with a robot on it successfully into the
endzone.

Raul,
I flew in from Japan on Friday evening (Don’t you just hate it when work gets in the way of playing with robots?) so I can only talk to Saturday’s matches at UTC.
I never saw a stretcher used on Saturday and I am positive that no coupons were used in the finals. I understand that at least one team successfully scored a bot on a stretcher on Friday. In general, stretcher use was rare.

There was a stretcher used. I can’t remember the team # that used it (or the match number), but during the match (which we were in), it was used successfully.

It was used in a match that team 501 and 69 were in together and we used the ticket and put out just the stretcher and not the robot on the stretcher.

At UTC, from the comments my team members were making (I hang out in the pits), our robot was the only one to successfully get a robot + stretcher into the endzone across the bridge. I personally saw two successful attempts with a stretcher only.
Calling up 12 teams at a time made for a number of cases where 3 or more of the matches for a team are clustered almost back to back. Given the short turn-around time it makes it difficult to service a broken robot. We had an instance when we were still on stage for a match when we were called up on-deck for the next series of matches. We have a fairly simple robot this year, but it was all to easy for me to envision cases of breaking something and resorting to a stretcher due to a lack of time between matches.

Unfortunately, the BU team (246) had all too many occasions to place their bot on a stretcher, and every time they did, a valliant attempt was made to get them to the end zone - but I don’t believe any was successful. I think one other bot may have been on a stretcher and did get across though…not positive on that one.
All in all it was a rare feat, and a strategy that was not popular at all.
