UTC sponsored team graduates

Team 173 is putting together a proposal United Technologies for a scholarship program similar to what BAE Systems currently has. In a nut shell, BAE provides a $1,000 scholarship to each team that they sponsor.

To strengthen our proposal, we are trying to gather some statistics about UTC sponsored teams. If your team is sponsored by UTC, we would like to know how many students and/or graduates of your team have gone on to work for UTC.
We would like to be as accurate as possible, so if you could provide your team name, number, and years competing it would be great.
If you have past members who used to work for UTC, that’s fine too, just make sure to note that.
Either respond here, PM me or email me (jeff DOT rodriguez AT gmail DOT com). Please ask any questions you can think of.

UTC has gotten at least 5 coops out of 195, not sure about full time. Will dig up.

4 Full timers from 177 went to UTC Power. I’m pretty sure EOB has full stats.

After hearing from some other members, I’d like to open this up to ANYONE who was involved in FIRST, regardless of your team being sponsored by UTC.
Have you been an intern, coop, or employee for UTC at all?
Please let me know. Thanks.

We are a UTC sponsored team, but too young to have graduated any to work for UTC yet.

There might have been some from the old high school team 535.

Jeff,

Team 230 has had at least one Sikorsky intern and I believe one other Alumnus with a job offer (he opted for NASA KSC instead). Unfortunately our alumni records are not as thorough as I’d like them to be.

Along similar lines that you are proposing for a grant from UTC our team has given our own $1000 Award to a graduating senior since 2002 funded entirely by the engineers. We would most likely continue this even if the UTC program becomes a reality.

Good luck with your efforts. Let me know if I can help you out in any way.

Here at team 179 quite a few have been employed through my company “EDF” as contractors for Pratt & Whitney. Most of them are intern or part time. Here’s a list off the top of my head:
Tytus Gerrish
Amanda Macintosh
Arefin Bari
Marcus Hill
Brian Ho
Zach Levine

All of them but Arefin were on the team for 4 years. They have all been a great asset to EDF and to P&W.

In addition to these 4 students-turned-UTC-engineers, we’ve had at least 3 (help me out pete?) students doing summer internships from 177 alone.

I have gotten information from Eric. Thanks Kim.

Rosie, Team 839 has 1 former student, now a Northeastern Coop, doing time at Hamilton Sundstrand. And a possible graduating senior working this summer.

Rosie has been around since 2002.
