Velox 5050 w/ PC 7518 Spindle Collet Size

Hi. My team is reviving our Velox 5050 that had been languishing for a bit. Unfortunately, we lost all the collets for it so I am trying to buy more. Looking at velox website, the collets are “1/2 precision collet” but I have no idea what this means. I know what ER, TG etc. collets are but not sure what 1/2 precision collet means. If anyone can provide some examples clarification of the collet size that’d be great!

Porter Cable uses what seems like a proprietary collet sizing. Use the router part number to look up the replacement parts for it.

We’ve only ever found 1/2" and 1/4" Porter Cable collets, so we use a set of ER16 adapters (with 1/2" shank, “quick change”) in the porter cable 1/2" collet for our daily work. Amazon quality ER16 adapters have seemed fine for us for FRC tolerances.

(Accessing standard ER collets directly in the spindle is yet another reason to upgrade to a cheap watercooled spindle…)

This is the Precision Collet set: https://www.precisebits.com/products/equipment/porter-cable_0429_kits.asp

IIRC you can use ER20 (might be ER16, one of the two) collets with the proprietary nut.
