I know that isn’t the most coherent title for a post, but if I could get some tips on this it would be absolutely fantastic. I’m trying to get my team to do a lock tight night- like competition, for those like I was a couple weeks ago, that’s a mini competition where small groups build vex bots in a 12 hour period for a game. And I’m trying to make some games to try, I want to try to confine the game pieces to things that have been in FTC in the last 3 years, but I don’t want to directly make it an ftc game (because those are far too complicated to keep designing constrained to 12 hours), some of the games I have already worked on are
Column Collapse
-Robots attempt to make towers of yellow blocks, the final scores are equal to all blocks on their side of field multiplied by the height of their tower (Basically 2003’s Stack Attack)
-Pregame
+Each team is given 10 blocks to divide among preloading on their robots and pre making any number of stacks along the colored tape
-Autonomous
+Robots can follow the colored tape via line tracker to knock over opposing teams towers
+Robots can defend their towers from being knocked over
-Teleop
+ROBOTS CAN gather blocks from the center of the field or blocks from the opposing side that are not part of the team’s tallest tower
+ROBOTS CANNOT manipulate the tallest tower on their opponent’s side of the field (If their opponent’s knock down their own tower by accident then it’s fair game)
+ROBOTS CAN stack blocks on their side of the field
-Endgame (last 10 seconds)
+Robots can attempt to move into the center of the field (a 2 by 1 ft rectangle) to make their tallest tower count for 1 more block
-Final Score
+All blocks are worth 2^(n-1) where n is the height of the tallest tower
Sweeping Surprise
-Robots attempt to move all the assorted wiffle balls off of their side of the field or into their “wastebasket” (FTC 30cm Rolling goals)
-Autonomous
+1 pt for picking up a golf sized ball
+2 pt for picking up a baseball sized ball
+3 pts for putting a golf ball into your wastebasket
+6 pts for putting a baseball into your wastebasket
-Teleop
+1 pt for every golf ball on your opponent’s side of the field (not in their wastebasket)
+2 pt for every baseball on your opponent’s side of the field (not in their wastebasket)
+5 pt for every golf ball in your wastebasket
+10 pt for every baseball in your wastebasket
+20 pt if you wastebasket is full
+20 pt if there are no balls on your side of the field (not in your wastebasket)
+ROBOTS CAN move into their opponent’s side of the field
+ROBOTS CANNOT move/knock over opposing teams wastebaskets
-Field
-Field is divided diagonally
-Wastebaskets are 1 ft away from the corners (1 per team)
Fortress Flags
-Players try to lower opposing teams flags (FTC “Block Party” Flags)
-Autonomous
+Robots may follow colored tape to reach opposing team’s flags and lower them
+1 point for leaving starting position
+5 points for reaching an opposing team’s’ flag zone (1 by 1 ft corner)
+10 points for lowering opposing team’s flag to at least half height
-Teleop
+ROBOTS CAN raise their own flags at any point EXCEPT for the last 10 seconds of a match
+ROBOTS CANNOT remain in their own flag zones for more than 5 seconds at a time (with 5 seconds in between)
+ROBOTS CAN lower opposing team’s flags
+5 points for each of the opposing team’s flags to half height
+10 points for completely lowering opposing team’s flags
+25 pt if both of the opposing team’s flags are lowered completely (instead of the 10 each)
Seesaw Scuffle
-Players pick up balls and blocks to put on a seesaw (FTC Block Party) or in a floor goal zone underneath it, bonus points for making the seesaw balanced in weight
-Autonomous
+1 for leaving starting position
+1 per ball or block picked up
+5 per ball or block in your floor goal
+10 points per block or ball in see saw
-Teleop
+1 point per block or ball in floor goal
+3 per block in the seesaw
+5 per ball in the seesaw
-Endgame
+20 points if the seesaw is balanced and no robot is touching it
+10 points if the seesaw is balanced and a robot is touching it
I anyone can give me tips on how to change the point rewards to better balance the games or has some ideas for other games (I would like around six to put on a wheel randomizer) I would really appreciate it, also please tell me if there’s a different board I shoudl have put this on, this seemed like the best, thanks!
